Nate Smith Shares Mental Exhaustion From Social Media Pressure
Nate Smith revealed his struggle with mental exhaustion from the digital music industry’s demands in an Instagram video.
Smith expressed frustration with success being measured solely by social media metrics and views.
“I’m just tired, you guys. I’m tired. I just wanna make music – I just wanna play shows. I don’t wanna play these games.”
He described the cycle of creating content, obsessing over view counts, then having his team dismiss songs with lower engagement as potential failures.
“That’s what this all feels like. It feels like one big game. And, it’s old, and it’s tiring, and it’s mentally exhausting.”
Smith announced he’s abandoning traditional social media promotion strategies, saying he’s “over the reels” and “weird teasing things.”
He thanked supporters who have backed him for seven years while searching for alternative ways to share his music.
